Two chief financial officers from MemorialCare Health System hospitals, including one CFO from Long Beach, were named among “150 Hospital & Health System CFOs to Know in the U.S.” by Becker’s Hospital Review (BHR), it was recently announced.
Karen Testman—MemorialCare Health System CFO and registered nurse—and John Bishop—CFO of Long Beach Memorial, Miller Children’s & Women’s Hospital Long Beach, Community Hospital Long Beach and Seaside Health Plan—were recognized as “the most impressive health care finance executives in the country,” by BHR, according to a press release.
“We congratulate Karen and John on this outstanding achievement,” MemorialCare CEO Barry Arbuckle said. “Their contributions ensure we are able to provide the highest quality and most compassionate care to the many communities we serve.”
MemorialCare is the only health system in the counties of Los Angeles and Orange with two CFOs on the list.
Testman has more than 20 years of health care experience, having been CFO at Orange Coast Memorial in Fountain Valley and Saddleback Memorial Medical Center in Laguna Hills and San Clemente.
Bishop oversees the financial operations of Memorial Medical Center Foundation—a philanthropic support organization—and became senior vice president and CFO of MemorialCare’s three Long Beach hospitals in 2009 and CFO for Seaside Health Plan in 2014.
Other Los Angeles-area honorees include Roger Sharma of Citrus Valley Health Partners in Covina; Kanner Tillman of Sherman Oaks Hospital and Encino Hospital Medical Center; Edward Prunchunas of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles; Paul Staton of UCLA Health System; and Lannie Tonnu of Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.
The BHR editorial team considered nominations, reviewed prior lists from the publication and conducted editorial research to develop this list, according to BHR’s website.
