Yesterday, MemorialCare Health System announced it was listed as one of the “50 Great Health Systems to Know in the United States” by Becker’s Hospital Review. It was the only health system based in Los Angeles and Orange Counties, according to a release.

The release, issued Wednesday, said hospitals selected were chosen based on “clinical and general excellence, national awards and recognition, quality, safety and responses from health leaders across the country” on which healthcare systems stood out.

“MemorialCare is proud to receive this outstanding recognition on behalf of our 15,000 extraordinary employees, affiliated physicians and volunteers who contribute to this enormous achievement,” says Barry Arbuckle, Ph.D., president & CEO of MemorialCare in a statement.

Last March, MemorialCare also made Becker’s list of “Top 150 Places to Work in Health Care Nationwide.” The MemorialCare Health System is composed of Long Beach Memorial, Miller Children’s & Women’s Hospital Long Beach and Community Hospital Long Beach.

“This tremendous honor recognizes the enormous achievements of everyone associated with our hospitals, outpatient facilities, physician groups and community services,” adds John Bishop, CEO of Long BeachMemorial, Miller Children’s & Women’s Hospital Long Beach and Community Hospital Long Beach in a statement. “It is a testament to their quest for continuing excellence, exceptional teamwork, unmatched commitment to serving our communities and dedication to high quality patient care.”
