The third annual Natural and Holistic Baby Expo (NAHBE) and Boobie-Palooza—yes folks, you read it right, Boobie-Palooza—will take place this Saturday, August 22 at the Renaissance Hotel in downtown Long Beach, to bring together families and expectant parents for a fun and informative day to celebrate and learn about child-rearing, the natural way.
Boobie-Palooza, founded in 2011 in Orange County by Dr. Elliot Berlin, the prenatal care specialist behind the Informed Pregnancy project, has joined forces with NAHBE to make this year’s event even more of a success.
“We want every family to feel welcome and see themselves represented when they come to our events,” said Kawani Brown, organizer and holistic health advocate. “The growth of the expo shows me that families want and need this kind of access to natural family living and it motivates me to make each show greater.”
Brown said this year’s lineup of speakers and panelists is amazing and will address current parenting issues. Speaking at this year’s event will be Dr. Robert Sears, Jade Beall, Jamie Lynne Grumet, Ashley Wright and Moorea Malatt, an expert in gentle sleep learning.
Sears is the author of The Vaccine Book and has an affinity for helping parents understand childhood vaccines and exploring the safest possible options for their child. According to the announcement, Sears has been leading the way in the fight against the recently passed SB 277 in California. He will speak on this newly passed law and vaccine safety, followed by a question and answer session and book signing.
Also on the docket is a film screening of the newly released documentary, Heads Up, a look into several women who fought for the option to birth their breech babies vaginally, instead of by cesarean section.
Expo attendees will also get the chance to grab goodie-filled Swag Bags, raffle prizes from Whole Foods, Earth Mama Angel Baby, NaturePedic and more and experience the Lactation Lounge, Cloth Diaper and Babywearing Learning Centers, an Eco Kids Area with Music and Entertainment, Free Massages for Mamas, Doula Speed Dating and an Attachment Parent Bookstore with author book signings throughout the day.
“We are looking forward to seeing all the new families this weekend and connecting with friends from years past,” said Brown.
