The event will be held in the big gym from 9AM-3PM and the screenings will be open to those ages 12-24.

The screenings will be given by pediatric cardiologists who will place electrodes on the patient’s body and feed information to an EKG machine through electrical wires. During the test, patients will need to lie still on a table while the machine records their heart’s electrical activity—a painless activity, according to the nonprofit. Males and females will be screened separately.

The whole process, including registration, takes up to 30 to 45 minutes.

During a screening in February 2016, a 16-year-old Poly High athlete found that he had a cardiac condition called Wolf Parkinsons White Syndrome, which could have led him to Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA). The teen underwent surgery the week after the screening and is now doing fine, according to one of the nonprofit’s founders Sameer Jafri.

The nonprofit aims to help student athletes from SCA by providing free tests for warning signs and raising awareness for what is considered the number one killer of students athletes.

The screenings are made available through donations.

Saving Hearts Foundation has screened an estimated 4,200 people over the past three years. During those screenings about 24 people found they had a condition.
