seabornmasonThe Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors announced yesterday that it was offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the Long Beach murder of 50 year-old Seaborn Mason.

Mason’s murder was one of several during the violent summer months this year and the third in as many days at the end of July. At around 11:19PM on Monday July 23, Long Beach Police Department responded to a shooting call in the 400 block of E. South St. and found Mason with several gunshot wounds to the upper body. He was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A motive for the shooting is still unknown and police said at the time that they did not know if the incident was gang related. Detectives are hopeful that someone with information regarding the shooting will come forward.

The approval of the reward, made at the recommendation of County Supervisor Don Knabe, sparked a gathering of Mason’s family members, LBPD Explorers and LBPD Search and Rescue volunteers Thursday, who canvassed the area of the murder and distributed flyers notifying residents of the offer.

Anyone with information is strongly urged to contact Long Beach Police Homicide Detectives Malcolm Evans or Todd Johnson at (562) 570-7244. Anonymous tips may be submitted by calling 1 (800) 222-TIPS, texting TIPLA plus your tip to CRIMES, or visiting www.lacrimestoppers.org.
