On Thursday, Dec. 4 Children Today hosted its 11th annual Holiday Cheer Wine Tasting and Silent Auction. Held on the towering 15th Floor of Arco Center in downtown Long Beach, Holiday Cheer once again brought together supporters, volunteers and community leaders who care about the experience of children facing homelessness in Long Beach.
Event proceeds topped $200,000, entirely earmarked to fund programs offered through the Play House North and Play House West in Long Beach. Sponsorships totaled $115,000, thanks to generous partners such as Wavell-Huber Wood Products ($25,000), KetlyCo General Contractors ($20,000), Chacon International ($10,000), The Port of Long Beach ($7,500), and many others. The silent and live auctions generated $85,000, thanks to the very hard work of the Sandlarks, an auxiliary organization that works to solely support Children Today.
Volunteers included students from CSULB, LBCC, and LB Unified. LA County Supervisor Don Knabe served as the auctioneer, doing a tremendous job in selling a vacation to Italy, Costa Rica, Mammoth, and a VIP party for 10 at the Pussy Cats Lounge.
