UPDATE | Homicide detectives made a sixth arrest on Saturday in connection with the shooting death of a 21-year-old woman in Long Beach last summer.

Police arrested Nyla Hall, 21, of Los Angeles for her involvement in the murder of Imani Keith, also 21 and from Los Angeles.

Detectives believe she had knowledge of the murder and assisted murder suspect Rodney Scott with the intent he might avoid prosecution, according to a release from the Long Beach Police Department.

Detectives also discovered Hall was part of the 2018 residential burglary in Los Angeles along with Scott and one other man.

Hall was booked for accessory after the fact and residential burglary and is being held on $1 million bail.

03/09/19 | Long Beach police arrested a Los Angeles man in connection with the shooting death of a 21-year-old woman and three others they believe had knowledge of the crime.

Imani Keith of Los Angeles was found shot in the upper torso while inside a North Long Beach home on June 28 at about 12:10 a.m. in the 1100 block of Via Wanda. She died the following afternoon at a local hospital.

Police on Thursday arranged for the transport of a man already in custody in Susanville to Long Beach City Jail. Detectives said in a statement Saturday that they believe Rodney Scott, 22, of Los Angeles, is responsible for Keith’s death, along with a residential burglary in Los Angeles and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Scott is being held on $2 million bail.

Police said they believe Keith and Scott knew each other, and the shooting was the result of a dispute between them.

“This evidence was revealed over the course of a lengthy investigation using multiple investigative resources,” according to a statement.

The others arrested include:

  • Richard Scott, 21, of Los Angeles, and Christina Collier, 23, of Los Angeles, were both booked on suspicion of being an accessory after the fact. They are each being held on $1 million bail.
  • Dana Moore, 49, of Los Angeles, was booked on suspicion of being an accessory after the fact and being an ex-felon in possession of a firearm. She is being held on $1 million bail.
  • David Thomas, 24, of Los Angeles, was booked on suspicion of residential burglary and is being held on $50,000 bail. He is suspected of participating in the 2018 residential burglary that Rodney Scott was arrested in connection with.

“Detectives believe Richard Scott, Dana Moore, and Christina Collier had knowledge of the murder and assisted Rodney Scott with the intent he might avoid prosecution,” police said in the statement.

Police served search warrants at several Los Angeles residences, where they recovered five firearms and “additional evidence” that will be processed by forensic experts, officials said.

The case is expected to be presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office later next week for filing consideration, police said.
