Authorities responded to the scene and found the horse was standing, Long Beach Fire Department spokesperson Brian Fisk said. However, the horseback rider had suffered minor injuries to the head, he said.
The horseback rider was treated for his injuries at the scene, Fisk said. Paramedics then took him to a local hospital for treatment, police said.
The horse was also injured during the crash and was taken by a “private party” to get medical attention, according to authorities. Police did not say what the extent of the horse’s injuries were.
The driver of the vehicle was not injured. Police said he remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.
