Hotel Maya will be a hosting a “Hero’s Welcome” reception to honor and recognize Rob Jones, the double-amputee Marine who is biking across the country in pursuit of dollars for charity.
Jones’s story has captivated people across the United States since October of last year, where he left Maine to trek through the country to reach his final destination of Camp Pendleton. Thus far, he has biked over 4,800 miles through mountains and flatlands, snow and rain—and he is making an official stop in Long Beach, appropriate considering the city’s moniker of being the most bike friendly city in the States.
Come this Thursday, Jones will depart from Pacific Coast Highway near LAX and make his trip down to Long Beach, crossing the 710 and the Los Angeles River at Wardlow, heading south to Seal Beach. A support truck will then pick him up at Seal Beach to return to Long Beach to be hosted by Hotel Maya for the evening.
The reception will occur Thursday, April 10 from 4PM to 5PM at Hotel Maya, located at 700 Queensway Drive. The event is free and open to the public. For those interested in tracking Jones’s success, click here.
