Students enrolled in the Long Beach Unified School District can begin picking up “grab-and-go” breakfast and lunch meals at district schools beginning Tuesday, Sept. 1.

Students or parents may pick up the meals, though unlike the district’s program in the spring, meals will not be provided for siblings or others who are not enrolled in the district, according to a video message from Mark Chavez, director of nutrition services for the district.

Five school sites will not be distributing the meals: Cubberly, Fremont, Stevenson and Longfellow elementary schools, and CAMS High School.

From Sept. 1-11, meals will be available for pickup from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for elementary, middle, K-8 and high schools; and from noon to 1:30 p.m. at Jordan High School.

Beginning Sept. 14, meals will be available from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at only elementary and high schools; and from noon to 1:30 p.m. at middle, K-8 schools, and Jordan High.

Parents or students will be required to use their lunch PIN number or student ID number from last year to pick up meals, or a print-out of the student’s class schedule or meal benefits eligibility letter.

Students who do not qualify for free and reduced meals may also purchase meals at the times and locations. Breakfast costs $2.25, and lunch is $3.
