The City of Long Beach Human Dignity Program Cultural Diversity Art Exhibit will open on Friday, October 5, at 7:00 pm. The exhibit will be held every day at Oasis Gallery, 4242 Atlantic Ave., during October from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, excluding Sundays and Mondays.
“I would like to invite the community to this special exhibit. Visitors will be given a series of questions to foster a dialogue on diversity,” said Melissa Morgan, Human Dignity Program Officer. “We will also invite people to sign the City’s Human Relations Commission’s Pledge for Peace.”
The exhibit features work from Long Beach adult and youth artists, as well as 27 photographs from the Press-Telegram’s archives, which display the rich diversity of Long Beach residents. The exhibit will go beyond racial identity and also feature various religious, sexual orientation, age, and disability identities in Long Beach.
The mission of First Fridays – which is hosting the event – is to promote and support local artists and musicians by providing them with an outlet to showcase their work. Every first Friday night of the month, participating Bixby Knolls businesses will unite to promote local artists and musicians through extended operating hours.
