Protesters hoping to draw attention to climate change during the United Nations Climate Action summit this week gathered at Bixby Park in Long Beach on Friday holding signs and waving at passing motorists as part of a “global strike.”

Several employees of City Hall participated, marching from Downtown to the rally at 12:30 p.m.

Councilwoman Jeannine Pearce, who helped spearhead the event, pointed to the city’s work, including drafting a climate change plan as progress the city is making toward helping the planet.
