President Joe Biden flew into Long Beach Airport Monday evening on Air Force One to rally support for Gov. Gavin Newsom a day before today’s recall election.

The last time a sitting president visited the city was in 2009, when President Barack Obama flew into Long Beach Airport for a series of Southern California events.

Biden’s visit Monday drew swarms of security and police throughout the city, road closures, and protesters around the public streets of Long Beach City College and Downtown.

The president is expected to depart from LGB around 10:15 a.m. this morning.
