Authorities today released the name of a woman struck and killed by a car while she was lying under a pile of blankets in a parking stall in Long Beach. They also said she did not have permanent housing.

Jamie Gatewood was 39 years old and homeless, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office. She died from multiple blunt-force injuries, the coroner’s office said. The death was determined to have been accidental.

The fatal incident happened Monday in a business parking lot on Long Beach Boulevard near 25th Street, Long Beach police reported.

The woman was hit by a 2010 Scion XB driven by a 27-year-old Los Angeles man. The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with police, the LBPD reported.

Gatewood died at the scene.
