After having previously offered a reward of $10,000 for information regarding the January murder of Lashown Fils back in May, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors voted yesterday not only to renew that reward but also to offer the same reward for another fatal shooting that occurred in the unincorporated area of Whittier.

The unsolved homicide of 26-year-old Long Beacher Lashown Fils occurred on the morning of January 11 near the 200 block of West 14th Street. Shot in the stomach, Fils eventually passed away at the hospital and investigators are still looking for who could be responsible. Fils had no known gang affiliation.

The reward for information on Fils’ murder had been set to expire November 10. Supervisor Don Knabe, who recommended renewing it, said detectives canvassing the area have been unable to find additional witnesses. Police hope the cash might prompt reluctant residents to come forward.

Knabe reminded potential witnesses that they can remain anonymous and still collect a reward.

Anyone with information on Fils’ shooting was asked to call Long Beach Police Detectives Terri Hubert or Mark Bigel at (562) 570-7244.
