United States Labor Secretary Hilda Solis paid a visit to Long Beach yesterday visiting the Job Corps Center. The Long Beach Job Corp is a free education and career technical training program administered by the U.S. Department of Labor. The Corps focuses on young people ages 16 through 24.
Secretary Solis was nominiated by President Obama in December and confirmed by the Senate in February 2009. Prior to her service as Labor Secretary, Solis served in Congress from the East Los Angeles area.
