A Lakewood man has been identified as the person who drowned in Lake Elsinore last week, authorities announced Friday.

Riverside County Sherriff’s Department deputies were dispatched to the area behind the 1400 block of Lakeshore Drive in the city of Lake Elsinore shortly after 4 p.m. on Aug 1. When they arrived, they saw two stalled personal watercraft about 40 yards from the beach and one of the riders, Joseph Ledezma, was unconscious and in the water, authorities said.

Ledezma was pronounced dead at the scene after deputies used civilian-owned watercraft to pull him out. He was 42.

According to the Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner’s Bureau, Ledezma’s cause of death was determined to be an accidental drowning.
