The Long Beach Chamber’s Political Action Committee (PAC) voted yesterday to endorse the reelection of Sixth District Councilmember Dee Andrews. In a press release the Chamber noted: Andrews has been in office for just over six months and in that time it was clear to the PAC board members he has determined the single most important goal for his district: jobs.
Last year, in a special election to fill the seat of Councilwoman Laura Richardson who resigned from office to successfully run for Congress, the Chamber’s PAC endorsed Ahmed Saafir who is now running against Andrews. Andrews served the remaining months of Richardson’s term on the council and is now running for reelection to serve a full term.
“The Chamber is proud to endorse Dee Andrews because in the short time he has been in office he understands what we understand, that the economic vitality of Long Beach and especially his district is priority number one,”
stated Dave Neary, Chairman of the PAC.
The Chamber made a strong case for Andrews by highlighting his recent job fair as a specific accomplishment which strengthened his commitment to attracting, retaining and recruiting jobs to the sixth council distinct.
“A few weeks ago, the Chamber spent time with Dee in his district meeting with business owners and learning how we can partner to boost the local economy,” stated Randy Gordon, Secretary of the Chamber’s PAC and President/CEO of the Chamber. “We were inspired and proud to see just how passionate Dee is about bringing jobs to his district. There is no doubt in my mind Dee will continue the call for jobs, jobs, jobs. It is now up to the business community to answer.”
