The doors open at Long Beach City College today as a new session begins, but that isn’t the only change on campus.
Last week, the school unveiled a freshly-designed logo that will be implemented immediately. The logo is an updated version of LBCC’s traditional design which has evolved in its current form over the years. It was unveiled at last Friday’s College Day ceremony, welcoming faculty back to campus.
“The entire Long Beach City College family is looking forward to the Fall Semester and welcoming our new and returning students,” said President Eloy Ortiz Oakley. “College Day is a great opportunity to make new acquaintances, visit with colleagues and begin the Fall 2008 semester with enthusiasm.”
About 400 attended the College Day welcoming, and were the first to view the Vikings’ new logo, which the school updated to bring a fresh look and feel to the 80-year-old school. The new Viking-inspired design took about a year to create and will soon be making its mark on campus, appearing on school merchandise and prominently displayed on the LBCC website.
