Leadership Long Beach, the community’s principal leadership development program, introduced Peter Bostic as their new Executive Director following his tenure as executive director of the LB Public Library Foundation.

“It has always been the mission of Leadership Long Beach to develop and connect principled leaders to strengthen the community,” Bostic said in a recent release.  “My experience has taught me that everyone has leadership potential and the main skills required for dynamic leadership can be learned.”

More than 50 applications were received for the position, and the LLB search committee selected Bostic after a series of interviews with several finalists.

“I will work with the LLB board to enhance the leadership curriculum of our core program for current leaders, and to study the feasibility of developing a K-12 leadership curriculum so that our entire community will grow up equipped with effective leadership skills in communication, cooperation, respect, team work and problem solving.”

Leadership Long Beach, which will celebrate its 20th year of service to the city of Long Beach in 2009, has trained nearly 700 class members who serve or have served on the City Council, City Commissions, nonprofit boards and various other community organizations.

Leadership Long Beach operates three annual programs: the adult, 10-month program; the five-month Youth Leadership Long Beach program; and the four-week Executive Quick Start Program.
