3:18pm | In an announcement that was not at all surprising to anyone involved in the program, the Board of Directors of Leadership Long Beach today named current program director Jeff Williams as the interim Executive Director.

“His passion for our organization and this city, extensive connections in the community and unanimous support of the LLB Board will serve him very well in this new position and demonstrates that we are committed to moving forward in serving our community in whatever way we can that fits with our leadership mission,” said Tom Farrand, LLB board president and president of Farrand Research.

Williams has taken over many duties since the July resignation of former Executive Director Peter Bostic. He’ll now be responsible for LLB’s flagship community development leadership program, fundraising efforts, alumni activities and more.

I should mention that I am a graduate of the LLB Class of 2009 and have since served as Day Chair for the program’s sessions on local media in both their Youth and Adult programs for the past two years.

Williams is also a graduate, and has been extremely active since completing the program in 2008. Since then he has served on the executive board and recently became a full-time staffer. Williams also works with the Youth Services Network and, as a former New Orleanian, is the founder and director of Long Beach Mardi Gras.

Leadership Long Beach is a local professional development program that teaches involved community members about the city, its challenges and potential solutions over the course of a ten-month program. Applications for the Class of 2011 will be available in January. Visit LeadershipLB.org to learn more.
