Park Estates Car Vandalized with Gay Slurs

At 11AM Tuesday, the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) responded to a call regarding anti-gay slurs written on a car.

The Chrysler Sebring convertible, parked on the 1500 block of Ramillo Avenue in Park Estates, had the words “gay” and “fag” spray painted on its top. The reason behind the vandalism is being investigated.

“Frankly put, we simply don’t know why it happened,” said Sgt. Aaron Eaton of the LBPD. “Could it be a hate crime? Yes, but we refuse to jump to conclusions…We must gather evidence rather than jumping ahead of ourselves.”

Anyone with information about this incident should call 562-570-7250. Anonymous tips may be made by calling 800-222-TIPS (8477), texting TIPLA plus the tip to CRIMES (274637), or visiting www.lacrimestoppers.org.
