Long Beach Lesbian and Gay Pride (LBLGP) announced recently that co-founder Bob Crow was selected as the 2018 Consolidated Association of Pride (CAPI) Person of the Year in Austin, Texas.

Crow is currently the only active founding member of LBLGP who volunteers continuously for the event, Pride officials said in a release. He was nominated as Person of the Year by CAPI due to his hard work and dedication to bring equality and diversity to many communities.

LBLGP, Inc. is the first non-profit organization in Long Beach to award fundings through grants and scholarships, received from a portion of its festival and parade. The organization also provides affordable housing for the LGBTQI+ community, as well as an annual Christmas Toy Drive, according to Pride officials.

This year, Long Beach Pride celebrates its 35th anniversary with its annual festival scheduled to take place May 19 and 20. Announcements for this year’s entertainment line-up, ticket sales and new interactive festival map, will be posted on their website here.
