queermafia1Queer Mafia, a new organization whose mission is to create a “no pressure, no cost networking opportunity for Long Beach’s burgeoning LGBTQ professional and allies community” is hosting its first mixer on Wednesday, September 30 at WE Labs in downtown Long Beach.

While Long Beach has several active LGBTQ organizations, Queer Mafia seeks to fill a gap with its open, inclusive and mission-driven organization focused specifically on connecting and empowering working professionals or aspiring professionals. A group that fits such a profile does not yet exist in Long Beach, according to a release.

The organization seeks to change that by bringing aspiring, young and established professionals together for networking opportunities, all while supporting good causes.

Queer Mafia’s mission for this inaugural mixer is to raise funds for the LGBTQ Center of Long Beach’s Mentoring Youth Through Empowerment (MYTE) Program.

“Young professionals are the new and emerging leaders in our community,” said Porter Gilberg, Executive Director of the Center, in a statement. “When young professionals invest in our youth, they’re investing in the future and sustainability of our communities and businesses. It’s critical people invest today to ensure our tomorrow.”

The first mixer will be held at WE Labs in downtown Long Beach on Wednesday, September 30 at 7:00PM. This month’s event is sponsored by ApartmentSEO, GetOutLB, WE Labs, Innovatory, B Room, Chulo Chonies and Elev8. Raffle tickets will be available for a dollar each, while prizes include hair and massage packages from B Room, Gift Certificates from Elev8 and a membership from WE Labs.

There is no cost to attend this networking event and individuals can RSVP either through Facebook here or Meetup here.

WE Labs is located at 235 East Broadway, Suite 800.
