11:00pm | LBTV3 is showing the early results of the 9th District City Council race. The results are not on the City Clerk’s web site. So far, the results are: Brad Shore 248 votes, Dan Pressburg 110 votes, Val Lerch 371 votes and Steve Neal 556 votes.
10:42pm | James Johnson, pictured right (7th District): Johnson from campaign party at Necho’s restaurant on Santa Fe, after finding out that he leads the 7th District race with one total vote thus far.
“I don’t want to disappoint anybody, but the numbers are going to come down,” Johnson told a crowd of about thirty supporters, including City Auditor Laura Doud.
“There’s a rumor that another vote may be coming in,” he joked.
Taking a seat, Johnson took time to reflect on his year-long campaign.
“The only thing that’s hard is not knowing what’s going on,” Johnson said of the slow-moving counting process. Votes have trickled in at a particularly slow rate in his race for the 7th District seat against Tonia Reyes Uranga, Jill Hill and Jack Smith.
“The one thing you want to say is that you left it all on the table,” he said of his campaign, which began exactly one year ago.
“Back then we had a different Uranga in the race,” he joked. “The one thing that’s remained constant is we got out and reached the voters.”
With such a tight race and little information to go on, the admittedly-anxious Johnson was asked for his thoughts on a possible run-off election in June.
“One election at a time,” he said with a smile.

This time we ran an aggressive ground campaign and it was a lot more tiring. But because of that, I’m much more comfortable this time.”
