Leadership Long Beach’s Excellence in Leadership event will honor two outstanding community leaders – Harbor Commissioner Doris Topsy-Elvord and the Rabin family, who founded and operate Morry’s of Naples.
Topsy-Elvord has been a Harbor Commissioner since 2003 and she recently completed her term as President. She previously served two terms as a Long Beach City Councilwoman, representing the 6th District. Topsy-Elvord has served the Long Beach community for years as a volunteer on many boards and commissions, offering her time and talent to countless organizations.
Morry’s of Naples has been a fixture in the community since 1938 when Morry Rabin founded it. His son Harvey and his wife Cherie operated it after Morry retired, and now, Harvey and Cherie’s offspring, Ken and Annie, operate this family-centered business.
Extremely generous contributors to nonprofits and charities alike, the Rabin family believes in giving back to the community, and has done it quietly for years, with little recognition for their donation of supplies and services.
“Leadership Long Beach is proud to honor Doris Topsy-Elvord and the Rabin family for the excellence of their leadership to our community and their support of Leadership Long Beach and other civic organizations. They are real Long Beach assets,” said Colleen Bentley, LLB president.
The event will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 17, at the Reef Restaurant. Individual tickets are $50 per person. Table sponsorships are available at $1,000 or $700, both of which come with premier seating locations, varying levels of speaker acknowledgements, event signage and program listings.
