coyotes

Long Beach Animal Care Services personnel will present two workshops this week focusing on coyotes, officials announced.

The workshops will take place on the following days:

  • Thursday, August 27, at 6:30PM, at El Dorado Nature Center, 7550 East Spring Street
  • Friday, August 28, at 6:30PM, at El Dorado Park West Senior Center Bridge Room, 2800 Studebaker Road

The workshops will be led by Rebecca Dmytryk, founder and president of Wildlife Emergency Services, who will share her knowledge about coyotes, including how to stay safe, keep pets protected, and use proper hazing techniques to help maintain coyotes’ fear of humans, according to a press release.

A Q&A session will follow each presentation.

“Education is the most important component in learning to co-exist with coyotes,” the release stated.

To report coyote sightings, please fill out the online “Coyote Report” by visiting www.LongBeachAnimalCare.com and clicking on “Wildlife” or call 562.570.7387 (PETS) to determine if an Animal Control Officer is needed. If the coyote is posing an imminent threat to life, call 911.
