10:40am | Long Beach vocalists are being encouraged to audition for the 2011-12 season of the Long Beach Chorale, which will be holding auditions throughout the month of August.
The auditions are by appointment only and will be held at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in Belmont Shore, according to information provided by the Long Beach Chorale and Chamber Orchestra’s Claire Atkinson.
Prospective members should call audition coordinator Alan Caddick at 562.431.2781 or send an e-mail to [email protected] to set up an appointment.
Singers in all voice parts are welcome to audition, though the ability to read music is required. Auditions will be brief, informal and non-threatening, Atkinson said.
The 40- to 50-member chorale is directed by Eliza Rubenstein and is comprised entirely of amateur singers of various ages and backgrounds. The chorale practices on Monday evenings in Belmont Shore.
The upcoming season will be the chorale’s 23rd and is set to include a holiday concert and a complete performance with orchestra of Franz Joseph Hayden’s “The Creation,” among other opportunities.
