1:01pm | Motorists are being advised to avoid the southbound 605 Freeway between Katella Avenue and the freeway’s interchange with the I-405 and 22 freeways Saturday night, when it will be completely closed to traffic.
This section of the southbound 605 will be closed beginning at 9 p.m. Saturday, July 9, and will remain closed until 7 a.m. on Sunday, July 10, according to information provided by the Orange County Transportation Authority’s Christine Byrne.
Byrne said the closure is necessary to allow workers to re-stripe the freeway and install k-rail.
Various detours will be available, but drivers should expect delays. The detours are:
- From the SB I-605 exit Willow Street, turn right and proceed west to Studebaker Road, turn left on Studebaker and proceed south to access the NB I-405 on-ramp.
- From the SB I-605 exit Willow, turn right and proceed west to Studebaker, turn left on Studebaker and proceed south to access the EB SR-22 on-ramp to transition to the SB I-405.
- From the SB I-605, exit Willow, turn right and proceed west to Studebaker, turn left on Studebaker, continue south to access the NB I-405 on-ramp.
- From the SB I-605, exit Willow, turn right and proceed west to Studebaker, turn left on Studebaker, continue south to access the WB SR-22 on-ramp.
- From the SB I-605, exit Katella, turn right and proceed east on Katella, turn right on Los Alamitos Boulevard, which becomes Seal Beach Boulevard, and continue south to access the SB I-405 on-ramp.
- From the SB I-605, exit East Spring Street, turn right and proceed west on East Spring, turn left on Woodruff Avenue and proceed south to access the SB I-405 on-ramp.
