The B Room is bringing back one of the most entertaining and charitable holiday events in Long Beach, It’s a Drag to Give, on Thursday, December 8 at 7:00PM in the Grand Ballroom of the Long Beach Convention Center.
Isa, Josie and Rocio Rached of The B Room, a vintage-style barber salon in downtown, will host the drag performance event and charity toy and coat drive for the second consecutive year, supporting the WomenShelter of Long Beach, The LGBTQ Center of Long Beach and Beacon for Him, three of the city’s notable nonprofits.
“Our first It’s a Drag To Give was such a fun time for the community and success for our charities that we just had to do it again,” said Isa Rached in a statement. “This year, Councilwoman Pearce’s office got on board and helped get the Convention Center Grand Ballroom; it’s really turning into a citywide effort.”
Attendees are encouraged to bring cash to tip the performers, which will include well-known community members such as Councilmember Jeannine Pearce, Isa Rached, Sergio Carrillo, Mimi Masher and Cory Allen from Councilwoman Lena Gonzalez’s office. DJ Notorious Jenn will provide the musical entertainment with JEWELS as the event’s host and MC for the evening, to be livestreamed by JT Media.
“It’s also really important for our community to create as many safe spaces as possible,” said Rached in a statement. “Hopefully It’s a Drag to Give will help remind people that we have a lot of work to do and that we are not alone in our fight for equality.”
As always, It’s a Drag to Give is free to attend, as long as you bring an unwrapped toy or two and/or a gently used or new coat. Proceeds go directly to the aforementioned nonprofits. Attendees for It’s a Drag to Give must have a ticket to the event which can be obtained through the eventbrite link here.
It’s a Drag to Give is sponsored this year by Councilwoman Jeannine Pearce’s office with Millworks, JTMedia and Innovatory at the Presenting Sponsor level. Additional sponsorship support is being provided by the Long Beach Convention Center, Pie Bar, Deb Kahookele, DLBA, Groundwork Fitness, iZone Marketing, Chulo Chonies, ApartmentSEO, Principal LA, Doly’s Delectables and Rug’it Clean with special thanks to John Molina.
