The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued an advisory for strong winds across the Antelope Valley and San Gabriel Mountains, as well as a rough waves advisory for the central coast.

Wind speeds are expected to be 20 and 35 miles per hour with gusts up to 50 miles per hour until tonight in Los Angeles and Ventura counties. The wind advisory will be in effect until 9:00PM tonight.

The NWS warns people that wind gusts can down tree branches and cause property damage, along with making conditions more dangerous for drivers of high-profile vehicles and vehicles towing trailers.

Between Sunday evening and today at 7:00AM, record winds were reported at 64 mph at Whitaker Peak and 54 mph at Sanberg.

Sea levels are expected to rise between 12 and 15 feet along northwest winds between 15 and 30 knots per hour, resulting in 35 knots per hour. A small craft advisory will be in effect until tomorrow at 3:00AM. NWS warns inexperienced sailors to avoid sailing in these conditions.

The NWS forecasts mostly sunny skies today and highs of 65 degrees in Long Beach with winds throughout Wednesday.
