3:15pm | A male suspect has been arrested for shooting his 16-year old daughter and her 37-year old mother in the early morning hours Sunday, after Long Beach Police responded to a 9-1-1 call from the daughter and forced entry into the home near Myrtle Avenue and Hill Street.
The 16-year old girl called 9-1-1 around 4:45am on Sunday, explaining that her father shot her and her mother in their home. The girl ran from the house suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg with her mother still inside with her armed father.
Officers arrived in less than one minute, according to a Police press release. They forced entry into the home to rescue the wounded woman, where they discovered the male suspect in the kitchen standing over the 37-year old female. She had also been shot in the leg.
The suspect fled into a bedroom where he was apprehended. Three minors and an elderly woman were also in the residence but were not harmed. The girl and mother were transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries to their legs. Officers say that the man abused both women before shooting them.
The man has been booked on several felony charges that include attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon, spousal abuse and other charges for firearm possession. Officers found two handguns and a kitchen knife when they arrested the suspect.
