A Long Beach man is desperately searching for his missing 23-year-old brother, who was last seen three days ago.

Greg Almodovar was last seen Tuesday morning when he took his niece to school, said Greg’s brother Jimmy Almodovar.

Greg works late hours as a caretaker for a man in Bixby Knolls, but did not show up for work Tuesday night or Wednesday night, the man told Jimmy.

“On this particular night, on Tuesday, my mom, who works late at the airport, came home and noticed Greg wasn’t home yet,” Jimmy said. “She went to bed thinking he would just be home late. He usually takes our niece to school in the mornings, but he never showed up for that.”

Jimmy said his last text from his brother, who he said he has a close relationship with, was at 11:18PM on Tuesday. Greg never responded to any follow-up texts from Jimmy, which was unusual.

Jimmy said he logged into his brother’s online accounts, and saw there were no online transactions on his bank account, and no outgoing calls or text messages. Jimmy was able to trace Greg’s phone to the area of 26th and Golden Ave., which faces the flood control.

“That’s where we saw his car,” Jimmy said. “We used a spare key to get into the car, and found his phone inside the car. When I started the car, I noticed the gas tank was very empty. He had just put $21 in his tank on Monday.”

Jimmy said Greg was diagnosed with depression, and, through medications and therapy, was getting better.

“There would still be times when he would have low days,” Jimmy said. “But recently he wasn’t having any bad days. There were no major changes in his life that would cause him to do anything rash. He has no enemies, and he’s not confrontational.”

Greg is described as 5’3″, weighing 160 pounds and has black hair. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is urged to call the Long Beach Police Department at 562-435-6711.
