2:34pm | The East Anaheim Street Business Alliance has announced that Long Beach Police Chief Jim McDonnell will serve as the featured speaker during the business alliance’s regular business meeting next Tuesday.
“We are excited to have Chief McDonnell address our growing business improvement district,” said Rod Wilson, EASBA president. “The positive changes the chief has brought to our city in such a short period of time is quite impressive and is a testament to his vast experience and outstanding leadership ability.”
McDonnell will provide an overview of the Long beach Police Department and explain how the department is being affected by the city’s financial woes, the alliance’s Ken Fisher said.
Appointed as the 25th chief of police for the Long Beach Police Department in February 2010, McDonnell is responsible for a department with a $200 million annual budget consisting of 1,500 employees.
The business improvement district represents roughly 600 businesses and aims to provide a unified voice for local businesses, while creating a more energetic community and prosperous economy along the historic East Anaheim Street corridor of Long Beach, according to information provided by Fisher.
The business luncheon meeting is set for Tuesday, March 22, at noon at the Long Beach Playhouse, 5021 E. Anaheim St., with parking available behind the playhouse. A buffet lunch prepared by Long Beach’s Moon Dance Catering, will be offered for $12.
