2:15pm When we last left our heroes, Canadian hypno-alt-folk quartet Twin, the band with citations for trying to canoe down the L.A. River to Long Beach (read about that here) pledged “to organize a river cleanup starting at where the garbage gets trapped in the vegetation[:] the west side of Sepulveda Park. No bands, no boats, a straight-up, sandwiches, lemonade and coffee morning/afternoon cleanup.”

(If you want the backstory, start with this.)

True to their word, Twin has scheduled the cleanup for April 9. “Rain or shine … Meet on the NW side of the Balboa bridge North off of 101 freeway at 10 a.m.,” says the Facebook event page. “We are going to work our way towards the dam and see how far we get.”

If you wish to contact Twin about this event, e-mail David Fort and Lesley Brown at [email protected].

Twin returns to Long Beach Sunday night with a show at Que Sera (1923 E. 7th St.). For an entry fee of either $2 or $3 (depending on where you look), you also get sets by local Lo Hablo and Square Fish, plus DJ action. Show begins at 9 p.m.
