6:34am | The local foundation that provides direct, private funding for the Long Beach Police Department has a new treasurer, it was announced this week.
The Long Beach Police Foundation has appointed Lacy G. Marlette, a certified public accountant by trade, to fill the shoes of outgoing foundation board and treasurer Lauren Haverlock, according to information provided by foundation spokeswoman Gretchen Houser.
Marlette joinced the foundation board in 2010, when the LBPD’s D.A.R.E. program was terminated and its remaining funds directed to the foundation’s youth programs, Houser said.
A partner in Torrance-based accountancy firm Piazza Donnelly Marlette LLP, Marlette earned his bachelor of science in accounting and Master of Business Administration at the University of Southern California. Marlett
worked for the national firm Grant Thornton (formerly Alexander Grant & Co.) from 1968 to 1972, when he entered private practice. He is licensed in California, a member of the California State Society of CPAs and is on the board of several not-for-profit charitable organizations.
The Long Beach Police Foundation is the only charitable organization that provides private, direct funding for the LBPD. Its mission is based in community safety, and the nonprofit seeks donations from private businesses and individuals to facilitate direct, designated donations that fulfill its mission.
