Police used a baton and taser to control a Riverside man before booking him Wednesday afternoon when he interfered with a film shoot in Long Beach, authorities said.

According to the Long Beach Police Department, the incident happened at about 12:30PM on Wednesday, September 30, at the Junipero Beach Lot, near Cherry Avenue and First Street, where filming was being done for the television drama series CSI: Cyber, according to a witness.

The suspect—identified as Demetrius Andreus Granvle, 37—allegedly interfered with the shooting and was asked repeatedly to leave the area by an officer assisting with the filming, officials said.

The suspect then spat on the officer and ran toward the beach and into the water, Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) spokesperson Marlene Arrona said.

Officers then used a baton and electronic control device on the suspect when he did not comply with officers’ orders, officials said.

Lifeguards assisted officers during the incident.

The suspect was transported to a local hospital and medically cleared before being booked for battery on emergency personnel and resisting/obstructing a peace officer.

Granvle is being held at Long Beach City Jail on $20,000 bail.

The investigation is ongoing.
