5:35pm | A medical marijuana dispensary caught fire early Monday morning, causing an estimated $50,000 in damage, according to the Long Beach Fire Department.
Firefighters responded to the scene at The Green Room, which is located in a strip mall in the 1700 block of Seventh Street, at about 1 a.m. Monday, according to information provided by firefighter Matt Dobberpuhl, who serves as a department spokesman.
A resident who lives above the strip mall noticed the fire and called 9-1-1. When the first unit arrived, firefighters saw flames inside the dispensary, Dobberpuhl said.
Firefighters worked quickly, and by 1:18 a.m. the flames had been doused. Dobberpuhl said no marijuana was found inside the dispensary.
The fire did no spread to any other units in the strip mall; all damage was confined to the unit rented by The Green Room, he said.
The residents who live above the pot clinic were not displaced, and no injuries were reported, Dobberpuhl said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, Dobberpuhl said.
