A man discharged his firearm Saturday night after an attempted burglary at his North Long Beach home near the border of Compton, authorities said.
The resident told officers who were dispatched to the 200 block of Orleans Way at 10:30 p.m. that an unknown person, or persons, attempted to break into his home, said Long Beach Officer Ben Hearst.
“Fearing for his safety, the resident retrieved a firearm and shot in the direction of the suspect(s),” Hearst said.
Officers did not locate any suspects or victims of gunfire. No one was arrested.
The investigation is ongoing.
