City health officials said Sunday they expect to make announcements soon about the possibility of reopening establishments like bars, gyms, hotels, summer camps and bowling alleys after the state issued new guidelines clearing the way for them to open as soon as Friday, as long as local health officials sign off.

“Our health department is reviewing these updates as well as our local health data and we will have additional announcements soon,” city officials said in a statement.

While the state guidances recommend counties open “no sooner” than June 12, Sonia Angell, state public health director, said it is still up to local health authorities to decide if next week is still too soon.

City officials also announced updates on certain coronavirus testing sites:

  • Veterans Memorial Stadium will reopen Monday, June 8 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
  • Jordan High School’s temporary hours will be 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, June 8 to Friday, June 12. It will be closed Thursday, June 11.
