Long Beach Transit wants to make it easier for you to vote by offering free transportation on Election Day.

As part of a regional effort to increase voter turnout, The LBT Board of Directors approved offering free rides on Tuesday, November 6 to get people to the polls and encourage voter participation.

In addition to its regularly scheduled, fixed-route bus service, LBT will offer free rides for its eligible Dial-A-Lift customers. Dial-A-Lift is LBT’s paratransit service for those with permanent mobility impairments.

“Getting to the polls should not be a barrier to voting,” said Long Beach Transit CEO, Ken McDonald. “With free service on LBT buses and Dial-A-Lift, voters in all the cities we serve can experience public transit and have their voices heard at the polls. We welcome the opportunity to serve new and current customers on November 6.”

While the election provides a unique opportunity to provide free rides, the agency is just as excited to introduce – or reintroduce – customers to their service.

LBT is dedicated to connecting citizens in Long Beach and the 13 surrounding cities with all the region has to offer, and for one day, that includes exercising their most fundamental right.
