A Long Beach woman was arrested for assault Tuesday after she burned a man with a cigarette, police said Wednesday.

Long Beach Police Department officers were dispatched to the area of Chestnut Avenue and West Anaheim Street in regard to an unknown trouble call at about 4PM, said LBPD spokeswoman Marlene Arrona.

Officers determined an assault had occurred and found a man who sustained what appeared to be a cigarette burn from the incident.

Police did not know if there was a relation between the man and the woman. “It’s unknown if they had any prior contact,” Arrona said.

Marina Popoca, 52, of Long Beach, was arrested for assault with a caustic chemical and is being held at Long Beach City Jail on $50,000 bail, Arrona said.
