Wallet Hub, the financial site dedicated to providing consumers and small businesses with pertinent information ranging from financial decisions to job markets, has ranked the 60 most populous cities in the US on a list of the best places to find a job—and Long Beach falls at a disheartening 53.

Fear not: we were not the worst in California (we beat Riverside and Los Angeles) or the nation (that honor would belong to our neighbor to the north, the aforementioned Los Angeles, who sits behind none other than the Big Apple). And when it came to the biggest factor of all—most job openings per capita—we sit at a lofty No. 3: nearly 13 job openings for every 100 residents.

Wallet Hub used 13 unique metrics ranging from highest average annual income to fastest-growing workforce to most industry variety.

“As an advocate for the health of consumers’ wallets,” said the financial site, “WalletHub decided to analyze the relative employment opportunities in the 60 largest U.S. cities in order to give people a sense of where on the map the strongest job markets and greatest prospects for long-term financial security can be found.”

Number 1? Fort Worth, Texas. The Big Star city—whose state took half of the the top 10 ranking—was noted for being the nation’s 5th fastest-falling in unemployment, 4th largest proportion of full-time employees, and 2nd most affordable housing.
