Long Beach will be hosting some legendary skaters Thursday night as the Art Theatre is scheduled to premiere the documentary Made In Venice—a film chronicling the birth of skateboarding and the skateboarders themselves who made their dream come true when they were finally able to help resurrect a skate park on Venice Beach.

The event will begin at 8:30PM and feature a Q&A and autograph-signing with skate park activists and Made In Venice cast members, according to the Made In Venice-The Movie Facebook page.

Special guests include Geoff Rowley, Jesse Martinez, Christian Hosoi and Jeff Ho. Heavy metal drummer Sky Willie of Piracy—whose music is featured on the film’s soundtrack—will also attend, according to organizers.

“The Venice Skatepark is a gathering place for the surf/skate tribe and a beacon to the world that skateboarding in our culture remains strong,” the Facebook post read. “Made In Venice the movie is the story of how this skate park came to life.”

Long Beach itself is no stranger to the skateboarding culture, calling itself home to prominent skaters such as Chad Tim Tim, Nick Trapasso and Ray Barbee.

Last July, Rowley helped unveil a revamped Cherry Park Skate Plaza and in April Long Beach hosted a skateboarding event as part of Mountain Dew’s Summer Dew Tour. Also, let’s not forget about the bi-annual Agenda Show that draws in businesses in the streetwear and lifestyle industry.

The Art Theatre is located at 2025 East 4th Street.
