A preliminary magnitude 3.6 earthquake hit the city of Maywood at 7:01 a.m., according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor was felt in the Long Beach, Boyle Heights, East Los Angeles and Commerce areas, but there were no reports of injuries or damage. Maywood is a small Gateway city bordered by the cities of Bell on the south, Vernon on the north and west, Huntington Park on the southwest, and Commerce on the east. The quake was initially reported as 3.9, but its magnitude was downgraded later in the morning.
