A Los Angeles man was arrested Thursday after going on a stabbing spree that left two people in Long Beach wounded, police say.

Chidi Benjamin Uzomah, 37, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder around 10:11 a.m. in Huntington Beach after police received reports of a man crashing his car into other drivers and stabbing two people during a 30-minute crime spree, according to the LBPD.

The first stabbing was reported around 7:47 a.m. in the 2100 block of Atlantic Avenue near the Burnett Neighborhood Library, police said. The victim in this incident said he was driving when he got into a traffic collision with Uzomah, police said. The collision escalated into an argument during which Ozumah allegedly stabbed the man in the upper body before fleeing the area, according to the LBPD.

Eleven minutes later, a man sitting in his vehicle in Downtown Long Beach called the LBPD to report that a driver, who was believed to be Uzomah, rammed his car into him, got out and then proceeded to slash his tires, LBPD spokesperson Allison Gallagher said. The victim, in this case, was not injured.

At around 8:16 a.m., officers were called to North Long Beach after another person report that a man had been stabbed in the upper body near a residential area. Both men who were stabbed in the upper body were transported to a local hospital where they are expected to survive, Gallagher said.

Chidi Uzomah Jr. allegedly stabbed a man in Central Long Beach before crashing his car into another man in Downtown and finally stabbing a second man in North Long Beach. He was arrested 20 miles away in Huntington Beach.

Shortly after the last stabbing, Huntington Beach police arrested Uzomah after flagging down his vehicle in the area of Beach Boulevard and Pacific Coast Highway, according to police.

After the LBPD confirmed Uzomah was the person involved in all three incidents earlier that morning, police say he was booked on suspicion of three charges: attempted murder, felony vandalism and hit and run. His bail has been set at $1 million while the investigation remains ongoing.
