An unidentified man died Wednesday after being struck by a vehicle Sunday morning near Downtown Long Beach, according to police.

A release from the Long Beach Police Department said that the man was standing in the roadway near 5th Street and Pine Avenue around 7 a.m. Sunday when he was struck by a Ford F-250.

The man was transported to a local hospital by the Long Beach Fire Department in critical condition, but police were notified Wednesday that the man had died from his injuries.

The driver stayed on scene and the victim is only being identified as a man who is approximately 20-30 years old while the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office tries to notify his family.

Police said that speed, alcohol or distracted driving are not believed to have factored into the accident.
