Police are investigating a shooting in North Long Beach that left one man dead Friday night.
Officers responded minutes before 10 p.m. to the 5500 block of Ackerfield Avenue following reports of a shooting, according to the Long Beach Police Department. The area is west of Paramount Boulevard and Davenport Park.
There, the officers found a man who’d been shot in the upper body, police said.
An officer assisted the man at the scene until Long Beach Fire personnel arrived and transported him to a local hospital where he died, police said. His identity was not revealed as the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office works to notify his next of kin.
According to authorities, the man was standing outside a home in the area when an unknown person shot him.
At this time, the motive for the shooting remains under investigation, according to police.
