A man was pronounced dead yesterday afternoon after police say he jumped from a Naples bridge and landed on the rocks below.

Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) officers were dispatched to the 5800 block of Appian Way at about 2:16PM regarding an unknown trouble call, said LBPD spokeswoman Marlene Arrona.

She said it appears that a man jumped from a bridge and landed on the rocks below. Long Beach Fire Department personnel also responded to the scene, and transported him to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The investigation is ongoing, including whether or not this was a suicide, and no other information was available. We will update the story as we learn more.
