Homicide detectives are investigating the death of a man who was found dead Monday night inside an apartment in the city’s Washington neighborhood, authorities said.
Police say they responded to the 1700 block of Magonlia Avenue just after 9 p.m. and discovered an unresponsive man inside an apartment.
Long Beach Fire Department personnel responded shortly after and determined that the man was dead, according to the Long Beach Police Department. He has not been identified, according to police, and the Los Angeles County Medical-Examiner’s Office will work to notify his relatives.
Detectives, through an investigation that appeared Tuesday morning to be focused on the Bloom at Magnolia apartment complex, later learned that the man was inside the apartment when someone assaulted him, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
The motive for the assault is unknown, according to police, adding that no suspect information is available at this time.
